Setting Up and Tearing Down a Drum Set

So, to get started on my free video drum lessons course, I needed to change out my bigger and more complex drum kit (seen in the first video) and replace it with my smaller and simpler one.

The reasons being:

  1. Ease of camera angles
  2. Simplicity of Miking
  3. Simpler setup for viewing
  4. More appropriate drum set for beginners

So, rather than just do it, I videoed it and processed it to show it at about 60x normal speed. (was an hour condensed it to 1 minute)

So I am going from a 3 tom, 2 floor tom, double pedal, 7 cymbal, latin block set to a 1 tom 1 floor and simpler cymbal set up.

Also going from all the mics needed in the first set and re-miking the smaller set!
I could have done this with the original drum set but it is nice to give all your drums playing time.

Having said that, it is one of the benefits of owning a larger drum kit. You can always make it smaller.
